TUTORIAL THURSDAY: Vix Swimwear Inspired Nail Art

Beauty, Fashion, Fitness & Nails

Today’s nail art tutorial is inspired by Vix Swimwear.  This particular suit is available in a  variety of styles.  Take a look at the Vix swimwear line at http://www.vixpaulahermanny.com/  You can also find great deals on Vix swim suits at Amazon.com, Nordstrom Rack, Zappos & Shopbop.com!

This look was pretty easy to achieve…. the nice part about it is you don’t need a steady hand ’cause of the squiggly print.

Here’s what you’ll need…

I’m Addicted by Essie – Turquoise Blue
Dillon by Zoya – Sea Green w/ shimmer
Chantal by Zoya – Creamy Beige
Louise by Zoya – Chocolate Brown
Black Nail Art Duo Pen – Art Club
Neve by Zoya – Deep bright Purple
Generic nail art striping brush
Top Coat: CND Vinylux Top Coat for a flawless finish that will last you 7 days!

Tools Nail Art Vix

Step 1: I applied 1 coat of I’m Addicted by Essie to all my nails and then topped it with 1 coat of Dillon by Zoya to make a custom sea green base color.

Step1-Vix Nail Art

Step 2: Using a striping brush or just the nail polish brush paint 2 thick horizontal lines across each of your nails using an opaque, creamy beige.  I used Chantal by Zoya.

Step2-Vix Nail Art

Step 3: With your striping brush paint 3 horizontal lines over the beige with a chocolate nail polish.  I used Louise by Zoya. ( your lines don’t have to be even or go fully across your nails)

Step3-Vix Nail Art

Step 4: Using your black nail art duo pen, paint squiggly uneven lines over your chocolate stripes… Leave some spots open so the brown can show thru.

Step4-Vix Nail Art

Step 5: Clean off your striping brush in some nail polish remover and use it again to paint a thin purple line in the centers of the beige.  I used Neve by Zoya.

Let your nails set for a few minutes and then apply 1 coat of your favorite top coat to seal in your design.  (I was in a rush… so as you can see below a few of my lines smudged when I applied my top coat… arghh… I hate when that happens!)

Step5-Vix Nail Art

& there you have it!  Swim inspired nails!  Be sure to use the hash tag #thetrendynail & #vixswimwear when you recreate your favorite Trendy Nail Swim Look!
Thanks for stopping by!
