Beauty, Fashion, Fitness & Nails

blumarine_Spring2014

Today’s Tutorial Thursday is inspired from the runway collection featured for Spring 2014 by Blumarine.  A simple spackle print that translates great into DIY nail art.  You don’t need any special tools for this nail art project.  Just nail polish and a paper towel and you’re ready to go!  Check out the steps below.

The Tools:

White Nail Polish: Azature Faint White – Azature
Beige Nail Polish:  Glints of Glinda – OPI
Orange Nail Polish: Atomic Orange – OPI
Blue Nail Polish: Bobbing For Baubles – Essie
Gold Nail Polish: Brooklyn – Zoya

Paper Towel

Step 1:  Start off with solid white nails.  I used 2 coats of Azature Faint White.  Wait for your nails to completely dry before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2:  Creating Your Base Texture

For your first layer of texture use a barely there beige nail polish.  (I suggest making a palette for your colors — you can use any type of surface ie. a paper plate, piece of tin foil or saran wrap.)  Daub some beige nail polish onto your palette.  Using a small piece of a paper towel.  Crinkle the corner and dip it into your beige nail polish.  (Splotch some of the excess polish onto an extra piece of paper towel first before applying to your nails.)

Step 3 & 4:  Create your orange & blue spackle stripes across your nails using the same technique as above.  Crinkle up a small piece of paper towel and daub some orange nail polish at the end.  Carefully press the paper towel across your nails creating a narrow spackled stripe pattern.  — >> Repeat the same step for your blue stripe.

Step 5:  I decided to add a final touch of gold in a few spaces at the tips and in the center of my nails using the same paper towel spackle technique. — Feel free to add your gold texture after your beige texture in step 1.
