It’s TRENDY NAIL TUTORIAL THURSDAY!

Today I wanted to show you how to add a subtle twist to a once solid nail, transforming your nails using a simple nail art design.

One way of changing the look of your solid nails is by using a matte nail polish!

Another way is by adding a simple element to each nail. In this example i added a vertical stripe to each nail. (A new trend seen on the runways)

It’s so easy!

Check out the steps below to get these trendy nails.

The Tools

Green nail polish:  School of Hard RocksEssie
Beige nail polish:  ChantalZoya
Matte nail polish:  Matte About You Essie
Nail Striping Brush
Optional: Rapid Dry  by OPI

Step 1:  Start off with solid green nails.  I used 2 coats of School of Hard Rocks by Essie… let me just add.. this color is great to wear alone too!

Step 2:  Paint 1 coat of matte clear nail lacquer over the solid green.  I used Matte About You by Essie.

Step 3:  Lastly using a striping brush paint a thin narrow line down the center of each nail with an opaque light beige color.  I used Chantal by Zoya.

I chose to paint the stripe after so it appears shiny over the matte green.  To finish off your nails you can either spritz a bottle of “Rapid Dry” by OPI spray over your nails to speed the drying process, or just wait for the beige to air dry.

Another option which I tried is painting a clear stripe of Seche Vite Dry Fast Nail Polish over the beige stripes only.  The photo above with the bottle of School of Hard Rocks by Essie shows that technique.

3 Easy Steps to change average nails into something just a little different!

Give it a try… and if making stripes is difficult free hand then try taping off your nails for that perfect straight edge.  Just wait for your nail polish to completely dry first before applying the tape.
