Hey there nail enthusiasts!
Hope everyone had a great time ringing in the New Year!
I have a pretty cool collection to announce to you guys and hopefully it’ll add a bit of excitement to your day as it did mine!
FORMULA X for those of you unfamiliar with the brand it’s created by KENDO a division of Sephora, based in San Francisco. X stands for more than 250 Xpressively beautiful colors and effects. X stands for Xtremely impressive performance and they boast themselves as a famously strong polish that stays perfectly shiny for an Xceptionally long time. FORMULA X is available at local Sephora stores, online at Sephora.com as well as SEPHORA inside J.C. Penney stores for $12.50/ bottle.
You will also be happy to know that not only is it a long lasting nail polish, but it’s also 3-FREE – NO Parabens, NO Sulfates , NO Phthalates.
The brand is pretty extensive and Sephora has specials on many of their nail polish system sets too!

I was extremely lucky to have the opportunity to sample the brand new FORMULA X collection for 2016 called #ColorCurators
#ColorCurators, a first-of-its-kind collaboration where 10 polished powerhouses in beauty, fashion, and wellness join FORMULA X to xpress their signature style through limited-edition nail colors.
Each month, one Color Curator will reveal three new shades—each inspired by their own passions, lifestyle, and personal expression.
January’s #ColorCurators collection: Song of Style Edition, featuring fashion it girl Aimee Song @SongOfStyle
Inspired by her love for everyday basics, these new neutrals are the perfect accent to any outfit. Kick off the new year in the ultimate pastel pink that complements all skin tones, start fresh with a subtle pop of versatile mint green, or stay simple yet elegant in an elongating nude.
“Why go bare when you can have color? Each polish is super opaque- in true Formula X fashion.” – Aimee Song, Song of Style
Here’s a closer look at the FORMULA X #ColorCurators Song of Style Collection for 2016.
FORMULA X Girl’s Best Friend – Best described as bubblegum creamy pastel pink. Compared to Essie the FORMULA X brush is a bit thicker.. meaning wider, but regardless it was still pretty easy to apply even with my shorter nails. If you thought that maybe the “long-lasting” formula was a joke… it’s really not! Not only was this shade super opaque after the first coat, but it lasts! I don’t know how they did it, but they figured out the right formula!
Comparison color – Essie Figi
I decided to combine Nude For You and Girls Best Friend and paint a Ruffian below.
Loving this look too!
Below is Nude For You a warm neutral tan. Also opaque and creamy.
Lastly is Mintfluencer a creamy opaque pastel mint.
Another love! Shown with 2 coats.
I must admit, this was my first time trying out the FORMULA X brand and i’d have to say that i was quite impressed! I really liked the opacity and vividness of the colors. I also liked the fact that they didn’t chip after the first 24hrs. I have a tendency to be extremely hard on my hands and this nail polish withstood it all and passed the tough test with flying colors! (no pun intended) 😉
Another plus is that my nails remained shiny for days, as if i was wearing a gel polish and it was really easy to remove too.
So, if you’re wondering whether i’d recommend you trying out the brand FORMULA X … and my answer is most certainly YES!
