essie fall 2016

Hey there nail enthusiasts!
Essie recently launched their new “Tokyo” inspired Fall 2016 collection.  Here’s a lil’ background on the collection and up close pics of each shade!

Tokyo, Japan’s electric capital boasts taste, flair and an uncanny aptitude for mixing fashion metaphors. Essie’s fall 2016 collection captures the city’s wild street style, eclectic cuisine and riot of autumnal colors.

The six shade palette of mesmerizing hues channels the changing fall foliage along with the modern and traditional sides of Tokyo’s bustling city.

Essie Fall 2016

I decided to swatch & snap each color & picture outside in the daylight.  So, in case you’re wondering why all the nail reflections… that’s why.  Also, note to self…  it may seem like a great idea to paint your nails outside, but don’t do it.  Even if it feels like a cool fall day, the sunlight will  react to the polish, making it a little thicker than normal and a bit tricky to apply evenly. 🙂

Here’s a closer look at the entire collection & my thoughts on each shade.

go-go-geisha essie fall 2016
go go geisha – antique blossom pink – retail: $9.00
I really love this shade but it’s a little streaky at first.    I’d suggest using a matte base coat prior to applying this shade. But, don’t let that deter you!  If you love creamy, muted pinks, i’d highly recommend it.

kimono-over essie fall 2016kimono-over – deep midnight plum – retail: $9.00
Another favorite of mine.  If you love purples, kimono-over will be a great go-2 for this fall season!  A warm, deep purple, it applies really nicely and removal’s a breeze too!  You don’t need to worry about nail stains with kimono-over!

playing-koi essie fall 2016
playing koi – bold rust orange – retail $9.00
Playing Koi is a deep rusty orange.  A nice consistency I didn’t have much problems with this shade.  I would recommend it for girls with shorter nails and creamy pale skin.

udon-know-me essie fall 2016
udon know me – dusty stone blue – retail $9.00
I really love this color!  A gorgeous soft dusty stone blue is how essie describes it and they’re spot on!  I would highly recommend this shade.  Even if you’re not in love with wearing blue nail polish, it really does look amazing on!  A perfect shade for Fall 2016!

now-and-zen essie fall 2016
now and zen – sage gray – retail $9.00
Another favorite of mine.  Now and Zen is a nice dusty sage gray.  A really great shade to transition into fall with.  My only issue is it’s a little watery, so i’d suggest starting with a matte base coat before applying this shade.

maki-me-happy essie fall 2016
maki me happy – deep berry red – retail $9.00
I really like this shade and a great warm creamy red for fall.  My only issue is it applied a little streaky at first.  Other than that, it’s great!  Using a matte base coat to start would solve that problem in an instant.

All and all the new fall collection from essie is really great!
My top 3 shades are go go geisha, udon know me, and kimono-over.

The entire Essie Fall 2016 collection is available now at essie.com, Ulta Beauty, amazon.com & local beauty and nail salons nationwide.  Each shade retails for $9.00/ bottle.
