Introducing another great line up for Fall 2014 by Essie!
essie fall 2014 collection Dress to Kilt!
Live dangerously. Dress flawlessly.
Inspired by a woman’s undeniable feminine mystique, essie’s fall 2014 collection delivers shades so chic it is almost criminal. Now is the time for dramatic, intriguing color that plays up your mysterious side.
From a rich autumnal red and novel deep cobalt, to seasonal staples mahogany and taupe, essie’s fall palette is a compelling collection of highly complementary hues that work beautifully together and make a serious style statement all on their own.
“This collection is for the international woman of mystery who’s confident and confidential all rolled into one seductive creature,” says brand founder and Global Creative Director Essie Weingarten. “This season is all about channeling this feminine mystique with shadowy shades that exude mystery.” I spy with my fashionable eye, a seductive new partner in crime. Mysterious and alluring, she knows exactly how to dress to kilt. My sources in the style cartel tell me that this season, shades with a splash of intrigue are the perfect cover up. Oh, you beg to differ? Well, darling, you’d be wise to fall in line or we’ll just have to take it outside.
essie’s fall 2014 collection retails at $8.50 per bottle and is available now at essie.com, fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide.
Take a look at my personal review of each color from the collection below. Direct shopping links can be found below each individual nail polish.
A rich and creamy, warm dark chocolate brown. 100% opacity after the first coat! A great shade that glides on smooth and evenly. Loving this shade for fall!
A gorgeous deep peacock teal. Another shade that applied evenly after the first coat and is 100% opaque.
A deep cherry red. 100% opaque and applies smooth and evenly. Probably one of my favorite for fall! Also wears great for both mani’s and pedi’s!
Described by essie as a “punchy, fresh taupe” Take it Outside is a nice transitional pre-fall to winter color. Concerned about whether this shade would streak I decided to prep my nail with 1 coat of clear base polish and then 1 coat of clear matte polish “Matte About You” by Essie. This created a good base on my nails for the color to grab onto.
After applying the first coat of “Take it Outside” I actually felt like I could get away with only 1 coat if I was in a rush! That’s how well the polish applied! In the swatch below I used 2 coats, but you could definitely get away with just one if you follow my steps above! 100% opaque Depending on the look you want this color will look great on people with darker complexions. But if you have fare skin and you’re looking for a nude nail then you might like Take It Outside.
Another creamy colbalt blue. This one also worked well using my matte top coat prior to applying the color to my nails. Streak free and just fab! I even tried out my nail foils with this color and the deep blue base really made the rainbow foils pop! (I’ll post that pic later in the week) A little too bold for my taste but with the rainbow foil overlay I could wear this for days!
A soft and creamy jade green. This one’s another favorite of mine. Opaque and flawless after the first coat! I have 2 coats on my nails in this photo but you can definitely get away with one. I love the dusty green shade and I think it would look great especially on those with farer skin tones.
I must say… overall this might be one of my favorite collections by Essie! Each color is wearable and applied evenly and smooth.
Here’s how I would rank each color starting from my most favorite shade.
- Fall In Line
- Dress to Kilt
- The Perfect Cover Up
- Partner In Crime
- Style Cartel
- Take It Outside
