Starrily Designer Nail Lacquer Review
Hey there nail enthusiasts,
One thing about me is that i’m a big supporter of small nail polish brands. So when I was approached to preview some of the Starrily designer nail lacquers I said YES! I had never heard of the brand so, i took a chance and accepted, needless to say i am very happy that i did!
Here’s a little background on the company.
Launched in 2012, Starrily is a designer nail polish brand that started out in New York City. Our goal was to bring fun and lively nail lacquers into the nail industry. We have since grown and now operate from a warehouse facility in Cleveland, OH. Our nail lacquers are 5-free, which means they do not contain the dangerous chemicals Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Toluene, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor. We have a strict cruelty-free policy where we actively avoid sourcing ingredients with animal by products such as Carmine and Cochineal. Our products are never tested on animals and we never condone any animal testing.
I did a little live Facebook video demo of the 3 products sent to me: Gamma Ray, Magic Rainbow and Alchemy. As you can tell by my commentary, i was really happy with the colors!
A few things that made this product stand from others i’ve tried is:
- They put a lot of time into their packaging. Mirroring the whole “fairytale, fantasy” theme, each bottle arrived in a beautifully decorated box with a silver embossed design & cut out star on the front.
- The shades are highly pigmented and vibrant and apply smooth and evenly.
- I had 0 issues with nail staining and each shade removed with ease.
Gamma Ray: A striking hot pink holographic polish that radiates beauty. Best worn with a clear base coat. Gamma Ray is super pigmented and becomes opaque in 2-3 thin coats, dries semi matte. It’s safe to say that if you have shorter nails you can even get away with 1 coat. Sugg. retail $15
Magic Rainbow: I would describe it exactly as the name, it’s a holographic explosion of rainbow colors. The most holographic rainbow nail lacquer i’ve ever come across. Apply 2-3 coats for an opaque finish. I was fine with just 2 coats. Below i compared Mirrorball by Orly to Magic Rainbow by Starrily and the difference is huge! Magic Rainbow is 10x more holographic and rainbowesk then Mirrorball. So, if you’re looking for that sparkly rainbow looking feel on your nails Magic Rainbow by Starrily is a MUST HAVE! Sugg. retail $15
Alchemy is a topper containing intensely iridescent multi colored flakes that shift from vibrant greens, reds, oranges and golds with a clear jelly base. Best worn over black to get the full holographic fleck affect. Sugg. retail $15
In the past i’ve found toppers to be quite thick. Starrily’s Alchemy is not thick at all. The consistency is perfect for layering. Absolutely adore this shade. Below i tried it over Gamma Ray as well as over a black. The choice is yours with this topper. For a more subtle effect it would even look great over a sheer pink.
As the holidays are quickly approaching I must say, that Starrily is definitely a brand you should check out and splurge on this season. You can purchase their products online at
If i had to make one suggestion, i would say skip the fancy box, and drop the price of the polish to $10 rather than $15. Coming from a design background I can truely appreciate the time and detail that went into designing such a beautiful box. As much as i loved getting my Starrily nail polish in such a great box, at the end of the day it’s a throw away item that most people might not appreciate. $15 isn’t a high price tag for a designer nail lacquer, but since the nail industry is very competitive and Starrily is a newer company i would say lowering the price between $10-$12/bottle would make it more enticing. Anywhoo, regardless i wouldn’t hesitate to pick up a bottle of Starrily and gift it to a special friend or family member who would love wearing a holographic polish. I absolutely love them!
