Hey there nail enthusiasts!
Looks like i’m back on the fashion inspired mani kick! Here’s a fun lil’ mani inspired by a piece from Iceberg’s Pre-Fall look book.
Let me start off by saying perfect plaids are probably the most challenging for me. For this design i used a super thin nail art striping brush and played with different striping techniques. I’d have to say it was a 50-50 success. lol.
Here’s what you’ll need to get these color blocked nails.
- Aspen by Zoya (matte frosted white)
- Ruffles & Feathers by Essie (emerald green)
- Color Binge by Essie (orange red)
- Sia by Zoya (royal blue)
- April by Zoya (neutral beige)
- Licorice by Essie– Black
- Shiny top coat or matte top coat
- Thin Striping Brush
Step 1: Start off with 1 coat of solid frosty white nails. I used Aspen by Zoya from their MatteVelvet collection.
Step 2: Create your first diamond using Ruffles and Feathers by Essie. I found it easiest to make a small diamond shape on each nail, to help me keep my diagonal lines somewhat lined up and even.
Step 3: Next using either a black nail art pen or striping brush dipped in black nail polish gently glide diagonal lines across each nail. Repeat the same step in the opposite direction to create a criss-cross effect.
Here’s the fun part!
Step 4: Fill in a few of your diagonal boxes with a royal blue, red and light pink.
Lastly seal in your design with your favorite dry fast clear top coat or matte top coat for a matte finish.
