essie desert mirage collection 2018

Hey there nail enthusiasts!
Introducing Essie’s new 2018 Desert Mirage Collection.  6 great shades perfect for the season.  I really like this collection.  I also tried something new this time around and applied a clear gel base coat to each of my nails prior to swatching the shades.
My reasoning behind this was to protect my nail base.  Adding the clear gel coat made swatching a breeze!  Not to mention my nails weren’t dried out by the 6th shade!  In my Seeing Stars swatch my ring finger has a clear regular nail polish base and the other two nails are with the gel base coat.  As you can see, there is no difference between the 3 fingers!  The nail polish had no problem adhering to the gel polish and there was no difference in how it applied!

Anywhoo… onto the collection

Lighten The Mood – Creamy ivory
I really like this shade, but when i applied the first coat i found it to be a bit streaky.  After my second coat the shade was perfect.

Less is Aura – Creamy neutral/tan
This applied really well, without any streaks.  It’s a very natural light tan.  If you’re looking for a neutral check this one out!

Let It Glow –  Shimmery Peachy Rose
This one is my least favorite in the collection.  I found it to apply very sheer on the first coat.  After the second it was fine though.

Seeing Stars – Copper Brown
I love this shade.  Everything about it is perfect.  Easy to apply and a perfect winter brown.  Love It!

Blue-tiful Horizon – Cerulian blue
This ones another favorite of mine.  A bit on the cooler side but still gorgeous and shimmery with a violet undertone.

Hazy Daze – Deep purple
Another favorite of mine.  Creamy and opaque.  LOVE IT!
